Cadet Band

Cadet Band is for 6th grade students who have at least one year of experience playing woodwind, brass, or percussion instruments.  Students are taught at an accelerated pace compared to most other 6th grade classes.  They perform concerts throughout the year at Eisenhower for friends and family, as well as at the District VII Music Performance Assessment, where they have consistently received superior ratings.  Some instruments such as French horn, euphonium, and tuba aren’t taught at the elementary level, thus, some students choose to transfer to these instruments in order to fill out the instrumentation of the band if a new instrument is right for them.

Students focus on fundamental playing skills, expanding music reading capabilities, performing as a large ensemble, and are given the opportunity to play in small groups and as soloists at the District Solo and Ensemble Festival.
